Home Fire by Kamila Shamsie

Kamila Shamsie’s 2017-novel explores forgiveness in the age of modern terrorism, the right to citizenship, and the lengths you would go for a loved one. The story is set in contemporary Britain.

The first half of the novel is largely a love story: hijab-wearing honeytrap Aneeka seduces the son of a prominent politician - setting the stage for the dilemmas of the second half.

For me the book became particularly interesting one-hundred pages in with brother Parvaiz’s seduction by terrorist Farooq - and its consequences.
