Hello! I’m Melanie, corporate copywriter, travel writer, and magazine editor.

Originally from Wiltshire, I left the UK twenty-five years ago and have since lived and worked in Albania, Georgia, Spain, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Indonesia. No surprises then that I love literature which explores geographical identity, home, motherland, exile, alienation, outsiders, and language. I’ve spent most of my life in the margins of someone else’s homeland.

Most of my writing has been for corporate clients, but fun stuff has appeared in Travel + Leisure, DestinAsian, Venture, Action Asia, CNN International, Cable News International, Inc., Prospect, The Jakarta Post, The Jakarta Globe, Georgia Today, and the Periplus Publishing Group.

I’m currently writing a children’s novel - the manuscript of which won the 2023 WriteMentor Novel-in-Development Award, was longlisted for the Cheshire Novel Prize in 2024, and is on the shortlist for the Yeovil International Literary Award 2024.
